Where to Stay
The converted warehouse district around the Elbphilharmonie is Hamburg's most architecturally striking neighborhood and its most expensive. Hotels here like the 25hours HafenCity run €180-300/night but put you steps from the miniature wonders museum (Miniatur Wunderland), harbor boat tours, and some of the city's best new restaurants. Walking these brick-canal streets at night is genuinely cinematic.
Hamburg's historic center around the Rathaus and Alster lakes — well-connected, clean, and loaded with department stores and business hotels.
